Looking for less stress and more serenity in your life? Learn to access the serenity that exists within us all. In this workshop, we'll talk about the physical and mental aspects of tension, how they build on each other, and how we can lessen them. We'll try breathwork, beginner mantra, a little writing, discussion/sharing and hopefully some laughter as we root out the source of our stress (it's not what you think-oh wait, yes it is!). We'll practice methods to connect to that place of peace that lies within, including gentle yoga, guided meditation, and mindful walking. We'll enjoy and explore ways to cultivate this sense of peace. You'll leave with a personalized plan to help your internal serenity garden blossom.
Bring a yoga mat and a meditation cushion or pillow, or borrow ours. Bring water, if desired. Short breaks included. Beginners are welcome. Instructor Gineen Dutkovic is a certified yoga instructor, a meditation teacher, a registered nurse, and a published author. Gayatri Mantra Meditation - Wed Jan 8th, 7:30pm-8:30pm
The Gayatri Mantra focuses on connecting to inner divine light, and letting it shine. We'll learn and practice this traditional yogic mantra, chant it together for a while, and sit quietly in meditation. As we enter the new year, this is a nice way to quiet the mind, and clear a path for inspiration. According to Douglas Brooks, PhD, a professor at the University of Rochester, the Gayatri Mantra is the most sacred phrase uttered in the ancient yogic texts, the Vedas. "It doesn't get more ancient, more sacred, than this. It's an ecstatic poetic moment." Meditation teacher Sri Shambhavanda says "As your chackras begin to radiate with this mantra, you will feel the weight of the world drop off you."
